New Delhi: Noida girl Raksha Gopal secured a whopping 99.6 per cent to top class XII examination, the results of which were announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday.
Raksha secured 498 out of 500 to top the chart. Speaking to media, the topper said: “I wanted to pursue MA in Political Science.”
Chandigarh students – Bhumi Sawant and Aditya Jain – bagged the second and third positions respectively with 99.4 per cent and 99.2 per cent.
However, the all India pass percentage has gone down from 83.05 per cent to 82 per cent this year, a senior CBSE official said.
Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar spoke to the toppers and congratulated them for their performance.
The board has also started a helpline with toll free number 18000118004 for psychological counselling post class XII board results.
“65 counsellors will talk to students and parents on the helpline number between 8 am to 10 pm,” the official said.
Students can check their results on the official website of the board, cbseresults.nic.in.
