Lowest Youth Unemployment in Madhya Pradesh
MP, Gujarat perform well—UTs, North-east lag
Bhopal
Recorded at a shade under one percent, Madhya Pradesh has the lowest youth unemployment rate in the country, says the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) released earlier this week.
The survey suggests that less than one percent of youth (15-29 years) in the state are unemployed, which is significantly lower than the national youth unemployment average of 3.2 percent.
As per the survey findings, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have performed better than states like Kerala, where the unemployment rate amongst youth in the same (15-29) age range stands at a whopping 29 percent.
In several cases, like Kerala, the state average is pushed up by unemployment among women. Kerala records unemployment among young ladies at 47.1 percent.
The survey suggests that youth unemployment continues to remain a problem in Union Territories and the North-East.
