Schools closed in MP-UP, Rajasthan; Fort wall collapsed in Datia, 3 died
The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in 12 states on Thursday (September 12). A red alert for heavy rains has been issued in 8 districts of Madhya Pradesh – Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Sehore and Bhopal. Schools have been closed in many districts. 9 people have been buried under the outer wall of Rajgarh fort in Datia after it collapsed. 3 have died. Rescue operations are underway.
There is an alert of heavy rain in 7 districts of Rajasthan including Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur. Holiday has been declared for schools in Ajmer and Dholpur districts. On Wednesday, many districts including Dholpur, Jhalawar received up to 6 inches of rain.
In Uttar Pradesh, red alert has been issued in 8 districts including Mathura, Agra and orange alert in more than 10 districts for the next 48 hours. Rain is forecast in 8 districts of Himachal Pradesh. There is a possibility of landslides in Sirmaur and Kinnaur.
According to IMD, there is a possibility of rain in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand till September 14.
12 cm rain expected in 7 states on September 13
- The weather department has warned of heavy to very heavy rains (up to 20 cm) in Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh.
- Heavy rain (12 cm) is likely over Western Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura.
- 7 mm rain is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.

On Wednesday, many districts including Dholpur and Jhalawar received up to 6 inches of rain.
There is a red alert for very heavy rain in Bhind, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Sagar in Madhya Pradesh today. There is a possibility of heavy rain in 29 districts including Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur. Today, holiday has been declared for all government and private schools up to class 5 in Bhopal, while in Sagar, Guna, Shivpuri, Morena and Bhind, holiday has been declared for all government and private schools up to class 8.
A yellow alert has been issued for rain and lightning in 18 districts of Bihar today. Rainfall will continue in the state for the next three to four days. During this time, there will be no significant change in the maximum and minimum temperatures.
Due to continuous rain in Chhattisgarh, rivers and streams are overflowing. Sukma-Bijapur is still cut off from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. 11 villages have been submerged due to the ingress of water from the Shivnath river. There is a flood like situation here after 30 years.
Fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is getting active in Himachal Pradesh. Due to this, rain is forecast in 8 districts during the next 48 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, incidents of landslides may occur after heavy rains in Sirmaur and Kinnaur. The weather is expected to be clear from tomorrow i.e. 14th September.
