Tributes continue to pour in for India’s beloved industrialist, Ratan Tata—chairman emeritus of Tata Sons—who breathed his last at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday evening. He was 86.
Tata had recently dismissed social media speculations surrounding his health and had said he was undergoing routine medical investigations due to his age.
The news of Tata’s passing was broken to the media by N. Chandrasekaran, chairman of the company the Tatas own.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi, and a host of leaders joined captains of industry in bidding adieu to Tata, who will be remembered for his modest demeanor and his efforts to shape Tata Sons for the new millennium.
