Vandalism at Hyderabad’s Durga pandal: Goddess’ idol’s hand broken; Police said – the accused removed the donation box, which led to the idol getting damaged

Some people vandalized a Durga Puja pandal in Nampally, Hyderabad. The accused also broke Durga Devi’s hand. The incident came to light on Friday morning when the organizers arrived to perform the puja.

The organizers said that the police was present there till the Dandiya program was over on Thursday night. The information about the time of the incident is not yet known.

However, police say that unidentified persons moved the hundi (donation box) aside, causing the hand of the Goddess Durga idol to fall.

Residents and staff of the Exhibition Society make the idol of the Goddess every year as part of the Devi Sharan Navratri celebrations.

First they cut the electricity, then they broke the CCTV. Police and the organizers said that the accused cut the electricity before entering the pandal. After this, they also broke the CCTV cameras installed there. Due to this, no footage of the incident has been found yet. The accused removed the barricading and threw away the puja material.
