Extending benefits under the Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ scheme to senior citizens in 1.08 crore families of the state, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla on Wednesday asked officials to expedite the issuance of Ayushman cards to beneficiaries.
The initiative, which was launched in Bhopal on Wednesday, provides healthcare benefits to citizens aged 70 and above.
Shukla stated that it is the moral responsibility of the state government to ensure that all seniors receive benefits under this scheme. The first card was presented to Syed Tahir Ali at the programme marking the opening of the service in the district.
Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Prabhakar Tiwari underlined the need for greater awareness of government-run welfare initiatives. He visited the Anand-Dham Old Age Home to distribute cards, providing healthcare coverage to residents ahead of Diwali.
Senior citizens are encouraged to update their Aadhaar details and complete the e-KYC process to expedite card issuance via the BIS portal and Ayushman app.
The scheme aims to reach approximately 4.7 crore citizens, particularly focusing on marginalised communities and backward tribes.
