Bhargava from Budhni, Rawat from Vijaypur: BJP
Ruling Party declares candidates for November 13 Bypolls
Bhopal
Putting to rest speculations, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced the names of party candidates for the Budhni and Vijaypur bypolls in Madhya Pradesh.
The party has nominated Ramakant Bhargava from Budhni, while Ramnivas Rawat has been named the party candidate from the Vijaypur seat.
Rawat won the 2023 elections from Vijaypur on a Congress party ticket. The seat fell vacant when he moved to the BJP earlier this year.
Ramakant Bhargava, a sitting MP from Vidisha, had been denied a parliamentary ticket by the party in the 2024 general elections. Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan successfully contested the elections from the constituency.
Chouhan vacated the Budhni assembly seat to retain his parliamentary chair, necessitating the bypoll in Budhni.
The Congress is yet to decide on its candidates for the two seats. A senior Congress leader in the state has purportedly said that the Congress will field young, fresh faces in the November 13 bypolls.
