Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh held a meeting with the District Farmers’ Union on Monday. He directed officials to ensure the timely availability of fertilisers and seeds for farmers.

Collector Singh tasked officials with ensuring the availability of fertilisers and seeds and communicating this information to the farmers.

He stated that the token system for fertiliser distribution should be maintained to prevent unnecessary waiting for the farmers.

Additionally, he informed the Farmers’ Union that farmers should be made aware of using NPK and urea as alternatives to DAP. Singh mentioned that NPK is of similar quality to DAP.

The meeting also discussed issues related to maps, the demarcation of routes under Section 250, the promotion of agricultural schemes, the organisation of farmers’ schools, and matters related to grant schemes.

District Panchayat CEO Rituraj Singh, ADM Prakash Nayak, SDM Aditya Jain, and District Farmers’ Union President Girwar Singh Rajput were among those who attended the meeting.

Earlier in the day, the Collector issued orders to cooperative societies to streamline the fertiliser distribution process and ensure the timely remittance of payments to Markfed.

The meeting at the collectorate comes in the midst of a deepening war of words between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the main opposition Congress after the latter accused the government of failing to make adequate arrangements for fertilisers ahead of the Rabi season.

Bhopal and its neighbouring districts are known for their production of high-quality Sharbati wheat, which is sought after for its high protein and fibre content.

The Rabi season coincides with the beginning of October
