Bhopal: No adequate proof found against Miglani, Kakkad

Income-Tax (IT) Department has not recovered substantial proofs in its raids against Rajendra Miglani, an advisor to Chief Minister Kamal Nath and officer-on-special-duty (OSD) Praveen Kakkad. Sources said the cash recovered from the residences of Miglani and Kakkad was accounted. At Miglani’s place, the department did not find assets disproportionate to the known sources of income. No incriminating document was recovered from his place. Miglani has been working with Nath for the past 40 years. The congress is alleging that raids were carried out to target confidants of Chief Minister.

The I-T sleuths thought recovered cash, documents and materials from Ashwini Sharma’s residence. Sharma’s business was going on for long time and he had support from bureaucrats more than the ministers. The I-T department could not establish any connection between Sharma and Nath on the basis of documents recovered from Sharma’s place. The names of politicians of BJP and Congress have come up in the documents recovered in raids against Sharma.

The establishments decided to be raided by I-T sleuths mainly were focused on Miglani and Kakkad. The I-T sleuths did not find materials in its raids in proportion to the hype created against the duo. Sources said Salil Kakkad, son of Praveen Kakkad, looks most the business affairs and it does not have any special assignment related to state government. Kakkad, upset over the raids, has also filed a case in the High Court against the Income Tax department officials. Miglani had already resigned from the post of political advisor of Chief Minister before Lok Sabha elections while Kakkar is working as OSD.
