Gandhian ideas important for Global peace: Ex-CM Digvijay Singh

Speaking at the youth conclave on Sunday under Jan Utsav at Gandhi Bhavan, Digvijay Singh said that no one can kill Gandhi and his thoughts. Only the thoughts of Gandhiji can turn the unrest of the world into peace. There are many areas in Jai Jagat Yatra between Delhi and Geneva where there is a lot of violence. It is a big task to educate people in those places and to convey the thoughts of Gandhiji to them.

On this occasion, Jail Carr Harris, International Coordinator of Jai Jagat informed that the Jai Jagat Yatra starting from India will travel 10500 kilometers and reach Geneva on 25 September 2020.

Simultaneously, March from other countries of the world will also conclude at the Geneva. This is a historic foot march for global peace and justice which talk about Gandhi’s for non violence and justice. The youth conclave discussed four pillars of Jai Jagat – elimination of poverty, eradication of social boycott, activism on climate crisis and ending conflicts and violence, in which many youth expressed their views.

In the programme, playback singer Megha Dalton presented several folk songs on Gandhiji including Gandhi Baba. After singing the song ‘Bad-Bad Vyapari karkhana Chalave, Gandhi Baba Charkha Chalayo’, she said that this song is being sung in tribal region of Jharkhand for 100 years. She told that while working in Jharkhand, many folk songs sung on Gandhiji and Kasturba Gandhi were found, which shows that Gandhi is in the mind and heart of the people.

She did a big concert in Mumbai on Gandhiji through the National Center for the Performing Arts. Now she is on the musical journey in the 150th birth anniversary of Baapu with folk songs based on ‘Gandhi Baba’.

The Youth Conclave and Jan Utsav organised by Ekta Parishad was a big hit in the city. The four day event was much enjoyed by the youngsters of the city.
