Kamal Nath is ‘alarmed’, asks MLAs to be in Bhopal

Alarmed by the developments in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has now asked all Congress MLAs and those supporting his government to stay in the state capital Bhopal for the entire length of the ongoing Vidhan Sabha session.

The MLAs have been directed to stay in Bhopal at the Congress Legislature Party meeting at the CM’s residence on Sunday, a day before the onset of the monsoon session in which the government is going to present its first budget.

The Congress at present has 109 MLAs in a house of 230 while it has a support of two BSP MLAs, one SP MLA and four independents. Of the four independents, one has been made a minister by Kamal Nath, while the remaining six still continue to eye for a ministerial berth.

Home Minister Bala Bachhan while accepting that the MLAs have indeed been directed to stay in Bhopal during the entire length of the monsoon session claimed that the move had nothing to do with the developments in Karnataka.

“The MLAs have been directed to stay in Bhopal because the government will present its first full fledged budget and the government wants to ensure that all MLAs get to know about budgetary provisions so that they can initiate and take forward development works in their respective constituencies. Our government is a stable government and there is no question of being alarmed over the developments in Karnataka,” he said.
