Madhya Pradesh govt to observe I-Day eve as ‘Shahid Divas’: CM

BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said that the Madhya Pradesh government will observe I-Day Eve as ‘Shahid Samman Divas’ and BJP leaders will meet family members of martyrs to express gratitude for their supreme sacrifice for the nation.

“We will remember our martyrs and observe Shahid Samman Divas on August 14 in the entire state. Ministers, MPs and

MLAs of BJP, members and workers of the party, and I will meet the families of martyrs to honour them. This will be an extensive programme in all villages, blocks and districts where rallies will be held to mark the day,” the CM said in Bhind during his ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’.

Chouhan’s announcement is all the more significant because nearly every household in Bhind district has at least one member serving in the Army or paramilitary.

It has 81 martyrs, 16 gallantry medal winners and at least 25,000 soldiers serving at the border.
