Madhya Pradesh to take part as Partner State in World Food India 2019

The Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that more attention should be paid on horticulture potential areas. This could help us in doubling farmers’ income. He mentioned that the private sector should be encouraged in this regard to set up food processing units. This was said by the Chief Minister Kamal Nath during the presentation given in connection with the World Food India 2019 at Mantralaya today. It has been decided in the meeting that Madhya Pradesh will take part as a Partner State in the World Food India 2019 to be held in Delhi in the month of November.
Chief Minister Kamal Nath said we should pay special attention to those areas which can help to increase the income of farmers as Madhya Pradesh has a farm-based economy. The Chief Minister said that to promote horticulture crops, it is necessary to establish more and more food processing units on the basis of production, so that the horticulture crops of the farmers can be used near their fields.
The Chief Minister also sought information regarding the garlic processing unit to be established in Mandsaur, orange unit in Chhindwara, vegetable and garlic unit in Ratlam and Orchid Park to be established in Chhindwara.
Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Sachin Yadav, Chief Secretary S.R. Mohanty, Principal Secretary, Department of Horticulture and Food Processing Aniruddh Mukherjee, Commissioner Horticulture Dr. M. Kalidurai and representatives of Ministry of Central Food Processing were present in the meeting.
