MP CM seeks Centre’s assistance in proportion to rise in population
BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanded that increase in Centre’s share of various schemes and financial assistance should be made in proportion to increase in population during the last few years. He was speaking at the meeting of Niti Aayog held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday.
He said MP made remarkable efforts to sustain green cover and to increase it at the cost of development in the past. He demanded that MP must be given additional amount in the form of green bonus to accelerate the pace of overall development in the state.
Earlier, Chouhan met Union minister for finance Piyush Goyal. During the half an hour long meeting, Chouhan put forth a demand for additional financial assistance for the state. He urged that the state needs additional financial assistance from the Centre to protect farmers from heavy loss owing to the bumper agriculture production in the state. It may be mentioned that bumper production of gram, summer moong, urad and soybean in the state has caused this problem.
Chouhan has informed Goyal that GST amount of Rs 1,096 crore for the month of April and May has not been reimbursed by the Centre till now. He requested that the amount be released immediately. Along with this, he expressed concern over financial assistance for Nafed and the pending payment with Nafed. He said that he has information that loan of Rs 5,000 crore has been approved by the Punjab National Bank for Nafed.
CM meets agri min Radha Mohan Singh: CM met the Union Minister of Agriculture, Radha Mohan Singh and thanked him for the assistance given for Rabi marketing in the price support scheme for gram, lentil and mustard.
Chouhan visits Vajpayee: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited AIIMS New Delhi to see former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
