MP much ahead of other states in construction of toilets in schools
Bhopal: Central government has lauded Madhya Pradesh for progress in implementation of drive to construct toilets in schools. Cabinet Secretary Shri P.K. Sinha sought information in this regard from Chief Secretaries of various states through video-conferencing today
Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa informed that additional toilets have been constructed in schools this year due to increased enrollment. Progress of Madhya Pradesh is comparatively better among big states. Along with year 2013-14, works prescribed for year 2014-15 have also been completed within 3 months.
The CS informed the Cabinet Secretary against the target of construction of 33 thousand 202 toilets given by the Central government, 32 thousand 654 toilets have been constructed. Remaining 500 toilets in state’s schools will be completed within 3 months. The Cabinet Secretary congratulated on excellent work done in Madhya Pradesh. ACS School Education Shri S.R. Mohanthy was also present.
It is noteworthy that all toilets constructed in Madhya Pradesh are permanent ones. In the state, about 25 thousand additional toilets have been constructed. These toilets were constructed in June itself. With this, total 58 thousand toilets have been constructed in schools of the state.
