No city will be allowed to become Bhopal of December 3 again

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has exhorted people to take a pledge that no city will be allowed to become Bhopal of December 3, 1984. Factories polluting atmosphere are not needed. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was addressing a condolence meeting to mark of 28th anniversary of Bhopal gas tragedy at Barkatullah Bhavan, Central Library here today.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the State Government is standing by gas-affected families. Efforts for their rehabilitation and ensuring justice to them will be continued. He said that injuries inflicted by the gas tragedy 28 years ago are still to be healed. No one can forget intervening night of December 2 and 3, 1984 when Bhopal had turned into a city of corpses. Over 15,000 persons died and thousand of families were affected due to leak of poisonous methyl isocynate gas from Union Carbide plant. He said that it is a collective responsibility to provide relief and effective service to gas-affected people. He said that everyone has right on nature, but its exploitation is not proper.
At the condolence meeting, representatives of Sanatan dharm, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Buddhist and Bohra communities recited scriptures of their religions. A two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to gas mishap victims. Urban Administration & Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur, Mayor Smt. Krishna Gaur, Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Shri Ramesh Sharma Guttu Bhaiyya, MLA Shri Dhruv Narayan Singh, Shri P.C.
