NTPC Sipat provides Rs 5 lakh to Bilaspur district for Covid-19
In its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district, the NTPC Sipat unit on Tuesday donated Rs 5 lakh to Deputy Collector Pankaj Dahire.
The money will be utilized to provide healthcare facility in isolation centers set up by the Bilaspur administration. This is part of NTPC’s corporate social responsibility and community development initiative.
The NTPC Sipat and its associates have taken a number of steps to safeguard its employees and associates from the coronavirus.
Earlier, Rs 25 lakh was handed over to the Bilaspur district administration and Rs 7.3 lakh to Janpad Panchayat Mastury for distribution of ration to migrant labourers in nearby villages.
Another Rs 2 lakh was given to Janpad panchayat for sanitizing and procuring masks. The Sangwari Mahila Samiti (SMS) donated Rs 50,000 to the district Red Cross Society.
Besides, the SMS distributed 5,500 masks to contract workers, Indian Coffee House staff, SBI and Post Office employees working inside Ujjwal Nagar township.
For sewing the masks, six village women were engaged. This helped them earn a livelihood during the Covid induced lockdown.
Groceries and green vegetables too were given away.
About 5,000 packets of grocery items were distributed among the labourers working inside the plant township and needy people by NTPC and its welfare bodies.
Besides masks, hand sanitizers and soaps were distributed to villagers. Also, 30 villages were sanitized to protect the people against the coronavirus.
