Firemen rescued three persons after flames engulfed a three-storey building in the Juni area of the city.
Indore
A 55-year-old man died on Wednesday, and several others were injured when an illegal chemical factory caught fire in the Khatiwala Tank area of Indore.
Firemen rescued several people trapped in the building that housed the factory, which residents say had been the cause of the fire.
The deceased, identified as Abdul Qadir, had been running a chemical factory in the building for the past several months. Area residents had repeatedly protested and termed his business “unsafe” for those living in the vicinity.
Police and fire services are trying to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
Local MLA Malini Gaud visited the area and spoke to residents, who expressed dismay at the existence of illegal factories in their locality.
