Other states interested in buying solar power of Madhya Pradesh

In a meeting of the Advisory Committee held at Mantralaya, the Minister for New and Renewable Energy Harsh Yadav informed that not only Metro Rail of Delhi is being operated by the solar energy being produced in the state but other states are also showing keen interest in buying it. He said that Madhya Pradesh is moving ahead speedily in this field, whether it is setting up of rooftop solar plants at the government buildings or use of wind energy. The members of the committee MLAs O.P.S. Bhadoriya, Virendra Raghuvanshi, Principal Secretary New and Renewable Energy Manu Shrivastava, Managing Director-M.P. Urja Vikas Nigam Rajeev Ranjan Meena were present at the meeting.
Minister Harsh Yadav gave directives for its implementation on the suggestions of Bhadoriya and Raghuvanshi. In the meeting, MLA Virendra Raghuvanshi said that the coming time is of environment friendly and anti-pollution renewable energy. The use of renewable energy is increasing day by day. MLA O.P.S. Bhadoriya said that he himself has used 2 horse power solar pumps which are very successful. It is an economical pump. The Minister Yadav expressed hope that good result will come soon in the renewable energy sector with the help of public representatives.
It was informed in the meeting that at present, 2071 mw solar energy and 2444 mw wind energy is being used in the state. The state has succeeded in getting full 750 mw solar energy from the Rewa Project by focusing on maximum use of solar energy in the state. The 250 m.w. unit of NTPC, Mandsuar is also functioning efficiently. Work is being carried out on development schemes of solar parks. New solar plants will installed shortly in Morena, Chhatarpur and Sagar districts. Work has been started to install 2 lakh solar pumps in the state. About 300 colleges are getting electricity at the low rate of about Rs. 2.25 per unit through rooftop plants. Previously, they used to get electricity at the rate of Rs.7.40 per unit.
Moreover, it was informed in the meeting that the facility of 90 percent grant to farmers of the state for installing solar pumps will enhance its use in the coming days. During the last one year, approval has been granted for solar parks in Neemuch, Agar-Malwa and Shajapur. Moreover, work for producing one thousand m.w. electricity in the first phase of estimated 17 thousand m.w. solar energy project in Mandhata through floating solar plant from Omkareshwar will be undertaken soon.
