Permission to set up tents outside 200 metre radius of polling booths

Bhopal: In view of extreme weather conditions of the current summer season, the Election Commission has allowed candidates to set up 10 X 10 feet tents outside 200 metre radius of polling booths. The commission has directed to include expenses on this in candidates’ poll expenses account.

Earlier, the commission had given permission for setting up a stall with shade of tarpaulin or cloth having one table and 2 chairs in the election stall and not to enclose it with Qanat or ten. But in view of extreme weather, the commission has permitted candidates to set up tents. Polling for the second and third phases of Lok Sabha elections will be held on April 17 and 24, respectively.
