Providing ration to people will be boon for tribal areas: CM
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that providing ration material to the people in the villages of tribal-dominated development blocks will save time, energy and money. This way, the Mukhya Mantri Ration Aapke Gram Yojana is no less than a boon for these areas.
Chouhan interacted with the beneficiaries of the scheme and the young tribals who transport the ration material to the beneficiaries by vehicles through video conferencing from the Mantralaya.
During the interaction, while the beneficiaries described the scheme as very useful, the young vehicle operators said that they have got employment by getting margin money and bank loan from the government. Beneficiaries and vehicle operators expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Chouhan.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Bisahu Lal Singh, Principal Secretary Food Faiz Ahmed Kidwai and other officials were present. Former minister Om Prakash Dhurve also joined the programme online.
Chouhan has said that arrangements have been made to provide wheat, rice and salt at Re 1 per kg under Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana in tribal development blocks under Mukhya Mantri Ration Aapke Gram Yojana through 474 contracted vehicles. The inspiration for this scheme came from an Amma. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the old lady told me, “Son, this scheme is good but my village is four kilometers away from the fair price shop. I am old. I have to travel four kilometers to get ration, which is causing a lot of trouble. After reaching the ration shop, either there was no ration at the shop or the shop was closed, which was a waste of time’. “On hearing her comment, I decided that I will initiate such a scheme which delivers foodgrain to such old and helpless people in villages and localities.” Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the inspiration to start a scheme comes from among the people. A labourer had also expressed his anguish like the old woman and told him that “I have to leave work to go to another village for ration, due to which buying such ration becomes expensive.” Chouhan said that after considering these problems of rural brothers and sisters, he decided to start this scheme.
The Chief Minister said that under the scheme, ration will be distributed to eligible families of villages dependent of fair price shops of tribal development blocks in their own villages. Due to this, the disabled, old, physically challenged and other eligible beneficiaries will not have to go to the ration shop set up at the Panchayat Headquarters to get ration.
