Rahul’s ‘inner party democracy’ soon in MP
Rahul Gandhi’s move to enforce ‘inner party democracy’ is going down well instead of AICC General Secretary’s ‘talent hunt’ process. Rahul first began with talent hunt looking for academic record clean image etc but in terms of electoral success, the move did not take off.
In the recently held assembly elections, those young leaders who were selected after talent hunt and fielded in the elections got defeated. However, unfazed with the defeat of youth leaders, he is once again making efforts to field 30 percent young faces in the general elections as well. Now that Rahul has started supervising inner party polls in Punjab, which was a grand success, sources claimed that Punjab model orgnaisaitonal polls would be conducted in other states too. The elections in Madhya Pradesh would also take place, but the process is likely to take a couple of years.
A Naitonal Youth Congress office bearer who did not want to be named, said, “In a situation, when the orgnaisaitonal polls have not taken place, it would be quite difficult to decide support-base of the leaders in the state. Over the statement of Raholji to field 30 percent youth in the elections, he stated that it was yet to be decided as how to implement it.” Those frontal orgnaisaiton chiefs who were in the assembly elections were- State Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza, State Youth Congress President Jitendra Patwari and State National Students Union of India (NSUI) president Rashmi Panwar. Particularly Jitendra Patwari and Rashmi Panwar were elected for the post before elections, passing through ‘talent hunt’ test of Rahul.
