Making provisions for uninterrupted power supply at boarding schools for tribal students in remote areas of the state, the Tribal Affairs Department has proposed that the facilities will soon be installed with solar panels and CCTV cameras.

According to the proposal, solar power systems will be installed in 2,378 institutions. The move will aid students in smart learning and preparing for competitive exams.

The department also aims to install CCTV cameras at 1,305 institutions to monitor students’ academic and other activities.

The Tribal Affairs Department will incur an expenditure of Rs 1,500 crores and 1,053.85 lakh for the installation of solar power systems and CCTV cameras, respectively. Officials said that installation will begin soon after approvals are received from the state government.
