Thousands of crores to be invested in Madhya Pradesh in petro chemical and gas-based industries
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the Central Government to make Madhya Pradesh Petro Chemical and Petroleum Investment Region (PCPIR) for establishment of gas-based industries. It will attract investment worth over Rs. 2 lakh crore. Madhya Pradesh will become a belt of petro chemical industries with this region spread over hundreds of kilometers. With investment of thousands of crore rupees, fertilisers, petro chemical, plastic, pharma etc. industries will be established in this belt.
For sanction to such ambitious projects, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan held discussions with Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers here today. Shri Chouhan said that he will visit Delhi on September 20 to discuss these projects with Union Minister Shri Ananth Kumar, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Energy and Coal Shri Piyush Goyal and Central Government’s officers.
Consenting to Madhya Pradesh’s appeal, Shri Ananth Kumar informed that Union Finance Ministry has provisioned Rs. 10 thousand crore for laying gas pipeline in this year’s budget. The new pipeline will go from Vellawaram in Andhra Pradesh to Surat in Gujarat. In between, Madhya Pradesh’s districts Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Dewas, Jhabua etc are proposed. The state already has Hajira-Jagdishpur pipeline. National Fertilisers Limited’s plant is situated on the same pipeline at Vijaynagar in Guna district. Other industries may also be based on this pipeline.
About Chief Minister’s PSPIR proposal, Shri Ananth Kumar said that gas pipeline terminal, refinery, tracking unit, fertiliser factory, gas-based power plants, petro chemical industries and pharmaceutical industries’ vast area will be developed in Madhya Pradesh. Besides, Shri Ananth Kumar also talked about setting up National Institute of Pharmacy Education at Bhopal and possibility of expansion of Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technoloyg. Shri Ananth Kumar said that prospects for expansion of petro chemical industries are immense in Central India.
