Ajinkya Rahane reveals reason behind Rajasthan Royals’ defeat against Chennai Super Kings

Rajasthan Royals on Sunday suffered their third straight defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2019. Rajasthan Royals were defeated by a narrow margin of eight runs by Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as the Ajinkya Rahane-led side witnessed his side slide down to the bottom of the league table. After the heartbreaking defeat, RR skipper Rahane said that the last five overs cost them the game. Rahane praised MS Dhoni by saying that it very difficult for the bowlers when the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman bats like the way he did in the match against RR.

The RR skipper further added that the dew made a difference as it was very hard for the bowlers to grip the ball after the first six overs but credited the CSK bowlers for their efforts with the ball despite dew playing a major role on the outfield. The 30-year-old concluded by saying that they have played well in the last three games and with some luck, they will be able to turn things around in the upcoming matches.

“Very disappointed. We started off really well in the first ten overs, but what cost us were the last five overs. When MS bats it is very difficult for the bowlers. It was very hard for the bowlers to grip the ball after six overs, even the fast bowlers. But CSK bowled really well, they kept taking wickets. As a batting unit we need to take the responsibility for this,” Rahane said in the post-match presentation.

“We win as a team and we lose as a team. If we win the smaller moments in T20s we will do well. We have played well in the last three games and hopefully with some luck, we’ll be able to turn it around,” Rahane added.

RR will look to turn around their fortunes when they take the field at their home ground – Sawai Mansingh Stadium – in Jaipur against Royal Challengers Bangalore as both the teams eye their first win of the ongoing IPL 2019.
