‘Disappointed’ Jos Buttler reveals what he said to R Ashwin after KXIP skipper Mankaded him

It was a rather sorry sight for many cricket fans as Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin decided to Mankad Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 game earlier this season. The incident was followed by a rather aggressive chat between the two players on the field, as the third umpire deemed Buttler out for leaving the crease too early. Having not said much about the incident since, Buttler has now revealed what was his interpretation and reaction to the dismissal.

Speaking to Times of India, the English opener reflected on the controversial dismissal and his initial assessment of the controversial dismissal but revealed that he has moved on from the incident.

“I was disappointed. It doesn’t happen often in cricket, but when it does it actually is disappointing. Unfortunately, I have got out in a similar fashion before as well, so I will make sure it doesn’t happen again,” said Buttler when asked about his take on the matter.

The opening batsman was seen in a conversation with Ashwin after the dismissal took place. When asked what did he tell the off-spinner, Buttler replied saying: “I just asked him if he really wishes to play the game that way. Whether he thought it was the right thing to do. And he obviously thought it was, in his opinion.”
