Kapil Dev makes a big statement on MS Dhoni, says no other cricketer has served India like him
A host of plaudits are coming in MS Dhoni’s way after his spectacular show against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper was in a sensational form at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium as he smashed the RCB bowlers all over the park. Dhoni hit an unbeaten 84 off just 48 balls and almost took his side to victory in Bengaluru.
CSK needed 26 runs off the last over and Dhoni took the responsibility onto himself as he hit Umesh Yadav for three sixes and a four. With only two needed off the final delivery, Dhoni missed the line as the ball went to the wicketkeeper. A scramble for one run ended in Parthiv’s direct throw leaving Shardul Thakur short of his crease. Dhoni almost pulled off an impossible run-chase for CSK.
He has been in great form this year and has continued to deliver for both India and CSK. Dhoni has 314 runs in the 9 matches he has played in the IPL so far and that has come at an astonishing average of 104.66. He was also adjudged the Man of the Series in India’s ODI series triumph against Australia earlier this year. Keeping his performances in mind, Former world cup winner Kapil Dev has made a big statement on Dhoni. Kapil believes Dhoni is the biggest contributor in the history of cricket for India.
“I don’t have to say anything about Dhoni. I think he has served the country very well and we must respect him.”
“No one knows how long he wants to play and how long his body can continue to take the workload. But, there is no other cricketer who has served the country so well as Dhoni. We should respect him and wish him good luck. I hope that he wins this World Cup too,” Kapil told IANS.
Dhoni has continued to add superlatives to his career with some swashbuckling displays for India and CSK. Now the 37-year-old would look add another world title to his cabinet when India head off to England and Wales for the World Cup that kicks off on May 30. It is likely to be Dhoni’s last and he would like to finish off his career on a high.
