Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals Playing 11 IPL: Team News, players to watch out for

Delhi Capitals (DC) will look to move closer to securing a playoffs berth when they take on hosts Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday. The Shreyas Iyer-led side have garnered twelve points from ten games so far this season and a win against Rajasthan will see them pip Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on the top of the points table. Meanwhile, Royals will be hoping to continue their winning run after bagging their third win of the season under new skipper Steve Smith.

The Royals defeated Mumbai Indians comfortably by 5 wickets in their last outing as Smith led from the front with a half-century. The Aussie batsman was struggling with his form in the ongoing tournament before regaining his touch with a 48-ball 59 against Mumbai. He was well supported by youngster Riyan Parag, who slammed a quickfire 43 off 29 balls as the duo helped Rajasthan chase down the target of 162 runs with five balls to spare.

Smith will be looking to make another statement with his performance on Monday as Rajasthan look to keep their playoffs hopes alive. The hosts are currently placed 7th on the table with six points from nine games and need to win their remaining games to salvage a spot in the knockout stages. Their middle-order has been a huge concern for Rajasthan this season and Smith will hope Parag can continue his fine run against Delhi. Ben Stokes and Ashton Turner will also look to contribute as they are yet to fire this season.

Delhi Capitals’ middle order has also struggled this season with the team heavily depending on the top order to provide explosive starts. While Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer have been in fine form so far, the likes of Rishabh Pant, Chris Morris and Colin Munro will have their task cut out against a formidable Rajasthan bowling attack as Jofra Archer and Shreyas Gopal have been consistently delivering the goods for the hosts.

Kagiso Rabada has led Delhi’s bowling attack well this season and has found good support from the likes of Ishant Sharma and Chris Morris. The trio will hope to continue their good show against Rajasthan. Delhi Capitals were on a winning streak of three games before losing by 40 runs against Mumbai Indians. They bounced back to beat Kings XI Punjab by 5 wickets in their last game and will be looking to continue the winning momentum.

1) Steve Smith: Smith was appointed as the Rajasthan Royals skipper ahead of the clash against Mumbai Indians and he roared back to form with a classy 59 off 48 balls. He remained unbeaten and wrapped-up the chase for his side and will be looking to replicate his heroics once again at home on Sunday against Delhi Capitals.

2) Shreyas Iyer: The Delhi Capitals skipper has been in fine form this season and is the second-highest run-getter for his team currently with 327 runs from ten games including two half-centuries. Iyer slammed an unbeaten 58 off 49 balls against KXIP to take his team home in a pressure chase and will aim to continue his purple patch against Rajasthan.

3) Jofra Archer: He has been Rajasthan’ best bowler so far this season and has proved to be a tough nut to crack for the opposition batsmen. Archer has claimed eleven wickets in nine games for Rajasthan this season and has bowled at an impressive economy of 6.62.

4) Kagiso Rababa: The South African pacer has been lethal for the Capitals this season. He is the leading wicket-taker and the current Purple Cap holder with 21 wickets in 10 games. Rabada will have to play a key role if Delhi are to fancy their chances against Rajasthan in their own backyard.
