Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, Poonam Yadav named in ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced women’s ODI and T20I Team of the Year. Australia’s Meg Lanning was awarded the captaincy of both the teams. India’s quartet of Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey and Poonam Yadav was named in the ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year following their sensational season on the ground. Whereas Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav were included in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year.

Swashbuckling Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry was named the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year as she scored a whopping 441 runs at an average of 73.50 while scalping another 21 wickets. Perry became the first player to complete 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in T20I cricket. The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award was last won by Mandhana in 2018.

“It’s an amazing honour and I’m a little bit shocked, given how many amazing performances there have been across the year,” said Perry, who has won the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Award for the second time in three years – the first as the maiden winner in 2017 while adding, “it’s amazing to be acknowledged and I do truly appreciate it. It’s a really nice way to finish the year on a personal note.”

Whereas Alyssa Healy was named ICC Women’s T20I Player of the Year after scoring 372 runs at an average of 53.14 with a strike-rate of 173.02. Healy also scored highest individual score in T20Is as she hammered a blistering 148 not-out versus Sri Lanka women earlier this year.
