Outsourced Workers Plan Agitation Against Low Wages

Employees in the state have been speaking of a state-wide protest for a while now

Bhopal

Outsourced and temporary employees across Madhya Pradesh are stepping up their fight against low wages and government apathy. After holding gate meetings at JP Hospital, Nutan College, and the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) on Thursday, they are now gearing up for a two-day protest on March 9-10.

Organisers slammed ministers for their remarks and accused them of belittling workers. They claimed the Education Minister compared guest teachers to encroachers, while the Health Minister and Labour Minister called employees—and the entire working class—beggars.

They vowed that on March 9, thousands of outsourced employees would gather at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s statue before marching to the ruling party headquarters.

The agitation, which coincides with the state assembly’s budget session, aims to corner the government over wages that are often below the minimum wage limit.
