Modi met Zelensky for the second time in 32 days: said- I keep talking to other leaders on stopping the war, a way for ceasefire should be found soon
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the third day of his US visit. This was the second meeting between the two leaders in 32 days. Modi had met Zelensky on his Ukraine visit on 23 August.
Modi posted a picture of his meeting with Zelensky in New York on Twitter. He wrote- We are committed to implementing the decisions taken during the Ukraine visit to strengthen bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Modi told Zelensky that he keeps talking to the leaders of many countries about the Russia-Ukraine war. Everyone believes that a way to ceasefire should be found soon.
Zelensky thanked Prime Minister Modi for his efforts to stop the war. Zelensky also praised Modi’s visit to Ukraine.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Summit of the Future of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Monday night. In a speech of about 4 minutes, PM Modi presented India’s stand on the safe future of the world.
He demanded changes in the world’s major institutions from the UN. Modi said, “The success of humanity lies in working together. Not in the battlefield. Changes in global institutions are necessary for world peace.”
The Prime Minister said-
The African Union was granted full membership of the G20 Summit in New Delhi. This was an important step towards change in global institutions.
Modi started his speech by saying Namaste. He said, “Namaskar to you on behalf of the world’s largest democracy India and its 140 crore people. In June, in the biggest election in human history, people gave me a chance to serve for the third time. I have come here to present their message.”
Without naming China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mentioned the growing threats on maritime routes. In fact, China has increased its presence in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean regions in recent years. India condemns such expansionism.
