India retained the top position in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings following the annual update released by the International Cricket Council, despite dropping one rating point.
India remain on 118 rating points, five clear of second-placed New Zealand national cricket team on 113. Australia national cricket team stayed third with 109 points.
In its official statement, the ICC said the update gives full weightage to matches played since May 2025, while fixtures from the previous two years carry 50 percent weightage.
South Africa national cricket team climbed to fourth place with 102 points, overtaking Pakistan national cricket team, who slipped to fifth on 98. Sri Lanka national cricket team, Afghanistan national cricket team and England national cricket team retained their places in the top eight.
The rankings update has also intensified the race for direct qualification to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. Under ICC rules, the top eight ranked teams as of 31 March 2027 will qualify automatically alongside hosts South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
