Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Titans: Race to IPL Final Begins

Qualifier 1 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans offers a meeting of the Indian Premier League’s two most consistent teams of the past five seasons, with both sides seeking the quickest route to the final in Dharamsala on Tuesday.

Separated only by net run rate in the league standings, the teams have shared an even rivalry, winning four matches each in their eight previous meetings. Despite both franchises reaching four of the last five playoffs, this will be their first post-season clash.

RCB have built their campaign around batting depth and flexibility, with contributions spread throughout the order. Their ability to recover from difficult positions has been a hallmark of the season, supported by experienced players such as Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood.

GT, meanwhile, have relied heavily on the consistency of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. Their bowling attack, led by Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj and Rashid Khan, has adapted effectively to varying conditions throughout the tournament.

The HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala is expected to favour chasing sides under lights, with both 200-plus totals at the venue this season successfully pursued. Every previous IPL meeting between RCB and GT has also been won by the team batting second.

RCB have injury concerns over Jacob Bethell, who has been ruled out with a finger injury, while Phil Salt remains under observation ahead of selection. Gujarat Titans reported no fresh injury issues.

Historically, the winner of Qualifier 1 has gone on to claim the IPL title in 12 editions, including each of the last eight seasons.
