Jeevandhara Camp Provides Integrated Care to Thalassaemia Patients

BHOPAL:  A “Jeevandhara Camp” for thalassaemia patients was organised on Tuesday at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. The camp was jointly conducted by the Public Health and Medical Education Department, National Health Mission (Madhya Pradesh), Gandhi Medical College and the Medanta Foundation.

The initiative provided multiple healthcare services under one roof, including registration, ABHA ID creation, point-of-care testing, HLA typing, physiotherapy, psychological counselling, disability certification, pension card processing and antenatal counselling. A total of 10 service stalls were set up for these services.

Officials reported that 83 patients were registered and 69 ABHA IDs were created. HLA typing was conducted for 62 patients. In addition, 142 samples were collected and 109 screening tests were completed. Physiotherapy services were provided to 52 patients, while 24 received psychological counselling and 66 were given general counselling. The process for UDID cards was initiated for 35 patients. Eighteen pregnant women also received antenatal counselling.

The camp witnessed active participation from NCC cadets, nursing students of government nursing colleges, PATH, and other voluntary organisations.

Senior officials, including the Dean and Superintendent of the medical college, the Deputy Director (Blood Cell), the Chief Medical and Health Officer, and heads of various departments, were present at the event.
