CEO Ila Tiwari Calls for Wider Awareness of Skill and Employment Schemes

Bhopal: Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Bhopal, Ila Tiwari, has called for wider awareness of skill development programmes to ensure that government schemes reach more people and help increase employment opportunities, particularly for women and young people.

Speaking at a meeting of the District Skill Committee held at the Government Divisional Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Govindpura, on Tuesday, Tiwari said that effective publicity and outreach were essential for achieving the targets set under various skill development initiatives.

She said that providing information about training and employment opportunities to people at the grassroots level would help connect more youth with jobs and self-employment opportunities.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the progress of skill development programmes, employment-oriented schemes and beneficiary-based initiatives being implemented across the district. Future action plans were also discussed.

Tiwari directed officials to ensure maximum participation in two upcoming women-focused placement drives. The first, organised under UN Women’s We STEM programme on June 12, will offer more than 100 job opportunities. The second, a mega placement drive by Trident Budhni on June 16, is expected to provide more than 500 positions.

She instructed officials to conduct extensive awareness campaigns to connect women associated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), self-help groups, and girls and women who have completed Class 8, 10 or 12 with these employment opportunities.

The CEO also directed the use of anganwadi workers and voluntary organisations to spread information in both rural and urban areas. She stressed the need to promote skill development schemes and ITI admissions through public welfare camps and hostels for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class students.

Tiwari further instructed officials to ensure that details of all ITI students are uploaded on the Harsh Portal to create comprehensive student profiles and improve tracking of training outcomes.

The meeting reviewed the performance of several flagship programmes, including the Chief Minister Seekho-Kamao Yojana, the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme and the Prime Minister Internship Scheme. Officials were also directed to speed up the disposal of pending loan cases under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and ensure timely loan disbursement to beneficiaries.

Officials informed the committee that the ITI has introduced several innovations in skill development. Under an MoU with Think Gas, a two-day Training of Trainers programme is being conducted on June 9 and 10. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0, around 250 trainees have received training as drone technicians and solar technicians in collaboration with NIESBUD.

To provide practical exposure, trainees were also taken on visits to the municipal corporation’s recycling plant as part of their on-the-job training programme.

Tiwari also emphasised the need to prepare more talented youth from the district for participation in the WorldSkills competition.

In a significant move, she directed the District Industries Centre and the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation to jointly conduct a skill gap analysis. The survey will assess the demand and availability of skilled manpower in the district and help design training programmes that match current and future industry requirements.

Officials from various departments, skill development institutions and related agencies attended the meeting.
