Ankush Singh Smashes Fastest MPL Hundred in Record Chase

GWALIOR/Indore: Chambal Ghariyals completed a record 258-run chase against Gwalior Cheetahs in a high-scoring encounter at Holkar Stadium in the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup 2026.

Chambal reached 258/7 with three balls remaining to register the highest successful chase in MPL history, inspired by Ankush Singh’s explosive century.

According to an MPL press release, Gwalior Cheetahs posted a formidable 257/6 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Parth Chaudhary and Kuldeep Gehi led the charge with aggressive innings, while captain Rajat Patidar provided a late flourish.

Chaudhary scored 73 off 38 balls, striking six sixes and six fours. Gehi then smashed 88 off 42 deliveries, including nine sixes and four fours, as the Cheetahs maintained a relentless scoring rate. Patidar added 46 off 16 balls to help set a daunting target.

Chambal’s chase began poorly as captain Shubham Sharma was dismissed for a first-ball duck. However, Ankush Singh launched a remarkable counterattack, producing one of the standout innings of the tournament.

The opener struck the fastest century in MPL history, scoring 101 off just 33 balls. His innings featured 11 sixes and six fours and kept Chambal firmly in contention despite the steep target.

After Ankush’s dismissal, Chambal slipped to 155/6 in 11.2 overs. Rohit Kumar Gupta and Aman Bhadoriya then steadied the innings and revived the chase with a crucial partnership.

Bhadoriya’s unbeaten half-century and late hitting ensured Chambal remained on course. With 25 runs required from the final 18 deliveries, the match remained finely balanced before Chambal completed the chase in the final over to seal a memorable victory.

Reflecting on his innings, Ankush Singh said: “It feels great to contribute to such a memorable win. We knew the target was huge, but the wicket was very good for batting, and we believed we could chase it down. We focused on playing our natural game and taking the attack to the bowlers.”

The victory marked a record-breaking night for Chambal Ghariyals, while Ankush’s century emerged as the defining performance in a match that produced more than 500 runs.
