Vidisha Station Gets Modern Facilities

BHOPAL: Vidisha railway station in Madhya Pradesh has been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of about Rs 29.46 crore, offering improved facilities to more than 13,000 passengers who use the station daily.

The station, an NSG-3 category facility under the Bhopal Railway Division, serves as an important rail gateway to major cities as well as tourist destinations including Sanchi and Udayagiri. The redevelopment is aimed at improving passenger convenience, safety and accessibility while giving the station a modern look.

The project includes a redesigned circulating area to improve traffic flow for passengers and vehicles. Platforms 1, 2, 3 and 4 have been equipped with new covered shelters, while existing platform roofing has been extended to provide better protection from heat and rain.

The station building has been renovated with a modern façade and upgraded interiors. Waiting halls and toilets have also been refurbished to improve cleanliness and passenger comfort.

A second entrance has been developed to provide easier access for commuters from other parts of the city. A new 12-metre-wide foot overbridge has also been constructed to improve movement between platforms. In addition, a new station building has been built with modern passenger amenities.

The redevelopment also focuses on accessibility, with ramps, tactile pathways and step-free access for passengers with disabilities. Improved lighting has been installed throughout the station and platform areas.

Officials said the upgraded station is expected to enhance the travel experience while supporting tourism, trade and economic activity in the Vidisha region through better rail infrastructure.
