Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday said the state government plans to introduce a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill during the upcoming monsoon session of the state Assembly.

Speaking at the inauguration of two government-run Sandipani schools in Katni district, CM said the draft legislation is expected to be approved by the state Cabinet before being tabled in the Assembly. He made the remarks during an official government programme.

The chief minister also inaugurated Sandipani schools at Jhinjhari and Bahoriband, constructed at a combined cost of more than Rs 74 crore. He said the schools are equipped with modern infrastructure and digital learning facilities aimed at improving the quality of education.

CM said the state government continues to provide free textbooks and bicycles to students in government schools. He added that students scoring more than 75% in board examinations are eligible for laptops, while school toppers receive scooters under existing state schemes.

Referring to infrastructure projects, the chief minister said the proposed Sleemanabad Tunnel Project is expected to improve irrigation and drinking water supply in parts of Baghelkhand and Bundelkhand.
