ABVP central working committee meeting in Ernakulam extends support to students fighting paper leak scams in Jharkhand, Bihar, Karnataka and Punjab
ABVP has extended full support to students protesting against paper leaks in competitive exams held by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), and in Punjab.
The decision was taken at the central working committee meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), held in Ernakulam, Kerala, on August 1 and 2.
The meeting brought together ABVP leaders from across the country to review the organisation’s work and plan activities for the coming year. Paper leak cases in several states were among the key issues discussed.
Students’ Fight Gets Full Backing
ABVP said every student has a right to a fair, transparent, and reliable exam system. The organisation said it stands firmly with students carrying out democratic protests over the paper leak issue. It also urged other social organisations and citizens to join the student movement.
In Jharkhand, ABVP had earlier submitted a detailed memorandum to the Governor as soon as the paper leak news came out. The organisation also ran a signature campaign and held protests at every district headquarters in the state.
ABVP said the exam system in India still needs institutional reforms to remove errors and build trust. The organisation will now submit detailed suggestions to the high-level committee set up after irregularities were found in the NEET exam. The aim is to help build a fair and error-free exam process across the country.
Vande Mataram Legal Protection Welcomed
The meeting also welcomed Parliament’s decision to pass the National Honour Prevention of Insults (Amendment) Bill, 2026. This law gives legal protection to the honour of Vande Mataram, the national song. ABVP called this a historic step to protect India’s national consciousness, freedom struggle legacy, and cultural identity.
To mark 150 years of Vande Mataram, ABVP will run a “Campus to Campus Vande Mataram” campaign across educational institutions in the country. The organisation will also continue its “Screen Time to Activity Time” campaign to encourage students to take part in more physical and social activities.
Independence Day Plans And Village Campaign
Ahead of August 15, ABVP announced plans for tricolour rallies, a mass Vande Mataram singing campaign, and the “Ek Gaon-Ek Tiranga” (One Village-One Tricolour) campaign.
The meeting also planned events to mark 650 years since the birth of Sant Shiromani Ravidas, 350 years since the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur, and 50 years since the movement against the Emergency. Other plans discussed include an all-India hostel survey, the 72nd national convention, the SEIL@60 programme, the Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Yuva Puraskar, international student outreach, overseas work, and workshops to expand the organisation.
National General Secretary Speaks
ABVP’s National General Secretary, Dr Virendra Singh Solanki, said the Ernakulam meeting held wide discussions on education, organisation work, current national issues, and plans for the coming year.
Solanki said paper leak cases in Jharkhand, Bihar, Karnataka, and Punjab raise serious questions about the country’s exam system. He said ABVP fully supports the just demands and democratic movements of students. He added that every student has a right to a fair, transparent, reliable, and error-free exam system.
Solanki said ABVP will present detailed suggestions to the high-level committee formed by the central government after the NEET exam irregularities. He called the legal protection given to Vande Mataram a historic decision linked to India’s freedom struggle and cultural identity. He said Vande Mataram is not just a national song but a lasting symbol of national pride.
Kerala To Get Special Focus
Since the central working committee meeting was held in Kerala, ABVP has decided to give special focus to organisational growth in the state. The “Campus to Campus Vande Mataram” and “Screen Time to Activity Time” campaigns will be run widely across Kerala’s educational campuses in the coming months.
Solanki said he is confident that ABVP workers will carry out these campaigns with public participation, strengthening the organisation’s goal of turning student power into national strength.
