A 22-year-old Gauhati University student was found dead at a homestay in Guwahati’s Azara area on Saturday, with a man reportedly detained in connection with the case, according to media reports.
The student was found unconscious at a homestay in the Garchuk-Dharapur area and was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
According to police, the detained man told investigators that the student had died by suicide. However, authorities said the claim had not been independently verified and that all aspects of the case were being investigated.
