Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks about the BJP’s political future, describing them as laughable, according to media reports.
Gandhi made the remarks while addressing a gathering in Goa on Sunday. He reportedly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and urged voters to give the Congress a full majority in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
Referring to the BJP’s future, Gandhi said its “expiry date” was approaching and urged party workers to continue reaching out to people.
In a post on X on Monday, Chouhan hit back at Gandhi, saying it was laughable for a leader whose party had repeatedly failed electoral tests to speak about the BJP’s expiry date.
In a separate post, Chouhan also criticised opposition groups, claiming that young people, farmers and women continued to have faith in the country’s leadership.
He said India’s standing on the global stage and the government’s commitment to national interests remained important priorities. Chouhan added that public trust was built through work, commitment and the integrity of leadership.
The remarks come amid political exchanges between the BJP and the Congress ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
