Equal Rights, Not Sympathy: MP Pushes Stronger Support for Disabled Persons

CM Mohan Yadav announces Rs 18,000 monthly honorarium for guest teachers, launches toll-free helpline and highlights welfare measures for disability inclusion across the state

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday said a developed society is one where persons with disabilities have equal rights, respect and opportunities in the nation’s progress.

Speaking at a programme on disability empowerment, Dr Yadav said disability should not be seen as weakness, adding that strength comes from determination rather than physical ability. He described disabled persons as an important part of the country’s development and said the government was committed to their welfare.

The Chief Minister announced that guest teachers working in institutions under the Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department would receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000, at par with Class-1 level support.

He also launched a toll-free helpline, 1800-233-4397, for quick resolution of problems faced by disabled persons across the state.

Dr Yadav said the government was implementing several welfare measures, including Unique Disability Identity cards, 4 percent reservation in government jobs, equal opportunity cells in departments, ramps and accessible washrooms in public buildings, social security pensions and assistive devices.

He added that over 2,500 disabled persons had received government appointments by October 2025, while more than 1.58 lakh UDID cards had been issued in the state.
