Rewa Woman Dies Before Reaching Hospital

REWA: A woman died before reaching hospital after her family carried her for nearly two kilometres on a cot along a muddy, unpaved track in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, drawing attention to road connectivity in the area.

The incident was reported on Sunday evening in Nadna (Dihiya) village under the Mangawan Assembly constituency. According to local residents, the woman was reportedly struck by lightning. As there was no motorable road leading to the village, her family and other villagers carried her on a cot for around 2 km to the nearest accessible point. She died before she could receive medical treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Ramkali Rawat, wife of the late Ram Swayamvar Rawat, a resident of Nadna (Dihiya) village. A video circulating on social media appears to show villagers carrying her on a cot through the muddy track.

The incident has renewed concerns over road infrastructure in the village. Some local residents have claimed that Rs 5 lakh had been sanctioned from the MLA Local Area Development Fund for the construction of a road, but the work has not yet been completed. This claim has not been independently verified.

Residents said they had previously raised concerns about road connectivity and other basic civic facilities, but no action was taken. Following the incident, they have called for an inquiry into the matter and appropriate action based on its findings.

At the time of publication, neither the district administration nor local public representatives had issued an official statement.
