BHOPAL: A fire broke out in two vehicles parked in the basement of Rachna Tower in Bhopal’s Rachna Nagar area on Monday afternoon, causing panic among residents of the multi-storey building. Fire brigade personnel later brought the blaze under control.
According to eyewitnesses and local residents, the incident occurred at around 1.30 pm. They said the fire was first noticed in an electric two-wheeler parked in the basement.
A car parked nearby also caught fire, and the flames quickly spread to the vehicle. Eyewitnesses claimed the electric two-wheeler was connected to a charging point at the time. However, officials are yet to confirm the exact cause of the fire.
Thick smoke soon spread through parts of the building, prompting residents to rush out of their flats. Several families living in the tower gathered outside as the smoke filled the basement area.
Residents initially tried to control the fire on their own, but the flames spread rapidly. Fire brigade teams later reached the spot and extinguished the blaze after a brief operation.
Smoke from the incident was visible from a distance, and a crowd gathered near the building following the fire. No casualties or injuries were immediately reported.
