Rs 14.54 Crore Assets Under Scanner

INDORE: A superintendent engineer of Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPPKVVCL) is under investigation after the Lokayukta (state anti-corruption agency) reported that its preliminary assessment found assets significantly higher than the officer’s known sources of income.

According to the Lokayukta, Superintendent Engineer Shivram Semil earned about Rs 2 crore during his 33 years of government service. However, officials said assets and investments identified so far are valued at about Rs 14.54 crore. The agency alleged that the assets are around 627 percent higher than his known legal income.

The findings follow searches conducted on Tuesday at nine locations linked to the engineer in Indore, Pithampur, Dhar and Morena as part of the investigation.

During the searches, investigators identified industrial units, residential and commercial properties, office premises, factory land, machinery, vehicles and other investments. A transformer manufacturing unit in Pithampur, an electrical manufacturing factory in Dhar district and a partly constructed industrial unit were among the properties listed in the preliminary assessment.

The Lokayukta also reported residential properties in Indore and Morena, including a three-storey house and an under-construction building. A plot registered in the name of the engineer’s son was also included in the preliminary findings.

Officials said the valuation and verification of the assets are still underway. The investigation is continuing, and any further legal action will depend on the outcome of the inquiry.
