New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu has resigned from the Union Council of Ministers, with President Droupadi Murmu accepting his resignation with immediate effect, according to a communiqué issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday.
The resignation was accepted on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under Clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution of India.
“The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Shri Ravneet Singh from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution of India,” the communiqué said.
No official reason for the resignation was provided in the statement. The development takes effect immediately following the President’s approval.
