Priyank Mishra reviews health schemes, asks officials to improve field monitoring and service delivery
BHOPAL, July 27: Bhopal Collector Priyank Mishra on Monday directed health officials to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services and improve the reach of government health programmes during a meeting of the District Health Committee.
The meeting reviewed various health department schemes and programmes along with nutrition services being provided by the Women and Child Development Department. Senior officials discussed the progress of healthcare initiatives and steps needed to improve service delivery at the ground level.
The Collector said maternal and child health services must remain the highest priority. He directed officials to conduct field-level reviews of ongoing programmes to identify the reasons behind gaps and address issues effectively.
Mishra warned that action would be taken against officials and employees if progress in maternal and child health services remained below expectations.
He instructed departments to ensure better access to healthcare services through outreach activities. Officials were also asked to identify hotspots for vector-borne diseases and conduct larva surveys along with awareness campaigns to prevent their spread.
The Collector also called for community participation in supporting TB patients through food basket initiatives. He directed officials to seek cooperation from people across different sections of society for the programme.
During the meeting, the status of Anganwadi buildings and nutrition services was also reviewed. Mishra instructed the Health Department and Women and Child Development Department to work together for the health and nutrition needs of women and children working at construction sites across the district.
District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ila Tiwari reviewed the low number of delivery cases at Civil Hospital Govindpura and fewer admissions at the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre. Chief Medical and Health Officer Bhopal Dr Manish Sharma informed the meeting that the government had provided adequate staff and resources at the hospital.
Despite available facilities, the Collector directed officials to take action over poor service delivery, the absence of the hospital superintendent from the meeting and negligence in work. He instructed officials to issue a show-cause notice and stop the salary increment of the Civil Hospital Govindpura superintendent.
The administration said regular monitoring would continue to improve healthcare services and ensure better facilities for mothers, children and other beneficiaries.
