BMHRC gets director after three years

Bhopal: The Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) has got a full-time director, with Dr Manisha Srivastava taking charge of the post. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) issued the appointment order on October 7.

Srivastava had been serving as the acting director of BMHRC for nearly three years. She will now lead the institute as its full-time director.

After taking charge, Srivastava thanked ICMR Director General Dr Rajiv Bahl for the appointment. She said patient care would remain her top priority and that efforts would be made to provide better medical facilities and quality healthcare services.

Strengthening research activities will also be a key focus, she said. The institute will promote translational research to help take research findings from laboratories and academic institutions into clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.

Srivastava also said BMHRC would encourage community-based research focused on local health problems and community needs. Research activities will be linked to healthcare requirements to develop models that can be applied on a wider scale.

She said improving coordination between patient needs, clinical experience and scientific research would remain a priority. Research and activities related to national health programmes will also receive special attention.
