MP CM announces cattle breed contest in Vrindavan Gram

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has announced a cattle breed competition in Vrindavan Gram to encourage farmers to adopt better livestock breeds and increase milk production, according to media reports.

The first-prize winner will receive Rs 1 lakh, while the second- and third-prize winners will get Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively. The prizes will be presented during Govardhan Puja as part of the Diwali celebrations.

CM made the announcement while virtually addressing the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav in Ratlam from Ujjain on Wednesday.

He said farmers in Ratlam were increasing their incomes through crop farming, livestock, horticulture and food processing.

The chief minister also said the government plans to install solar systems on the fields of 30 lakh farmers to help power irrigation pumps. Farmers will receive 10 hours of daytime electricity for irrigation during the rabi season, according to the reports.

CM also highlighted the role of irrigation projects, river-linking initiatives and expressways in improving farming and market access in Ratlam.

During the programme, several progressive farmers shared their experiences in dairy farming and the cultivation of guava, roses, garlic and onions, as well as organic farming.

The event focused on modern farming methods and encouraging farmers to develop additional sources of income.
