SAGAR: The Madhya pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has ordered strict action against those responsible for deaths caused by spurious liquor in the Banda-Shahgarh area of Sagar district, declaring a zero-tolerance policy against illegal alcohol networks.
Presiding over a joint meeting with administrative officials, police forces and public representatives at Bundelkhand Medical College in Sagar, CM directed authorities to seize all illicit alcohol and dismantle supply chains operating across the district and its neighbouring border regions.
“The state government follows a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and anti-social activities,” CM said. He emphasised that investigations must remain fair and transparent, ensuring that offenders face the strictest legal action while innocent individuals are protected.
CM noted that Madhya Pradesh enforces stringent legislation against illicit liquor offences, with statutory provisions prescribing punishments ranging from life imprisonment to the death penalty. He authorised local authorities to take firm action against illegal structures and operations established by those involved in criminal activities.
Following the meeting, CM visited hospital wards at Bundelkhand Medical College to review the condition of victims and console their families. He instructed senior doctors and hospital management to ensure round-the-clock availability of specialist medical care, diagnostic testing and essential medicines.
To prevent similar tragedies, CM announced an accelerated statewide anti-drug and de-addiction campaign conducted with public participation, partnering with social organisations and religious groups. He also ordered authorities to monitor social media platforms closely and take immediate legal measures against individuals spreading rumours aimed at disturbing communal harmony.
